If you wish, you may use the new Homestyler Floorplan Beta
After determining which plot of land you are on, you must design the floorplan for the house to build on it. Remember to follow building codes and bylaws! Of these the most important is to determine the maximum length and width of your house. Then you can add the essentials. Remember to be REALISTIC and similar to the designs you have seen with professional builders!
Steps:
- Figure out how big your lot will be from what is available
- Calculate your allowable width and length of house you can make
- Draw out a box in Homestyler of the length and width you determined. If you want, you can make your house have a contour and just stick within the box.
- Plan out where the following will go in order:
- Front door
- Front foyer closet
- Back door
- Side door
- Main bedroom and closet
- 2nd bedroom and other bedrooms with closets
- Bathrooms
- Kitchen
- Dining room (optional if you have space in kitchen)
- Living room
- Office (optional)
- Any extra closet space
Once figured, you may design you house to the following rubric:
